Anti-Wrinkle Treatments

Botox® is an FDA approved purified protein that can be used to help relax muscles to reduce the appearance of fine lines and facial wrinkles. Common areas that can be treated are frown lines between the eyebrows, “crow’s feet” around the eyes, and horizontal forehead wrinkles. Botox® injections can also be used to help patients suffering from jaw pain or to help create a slimming effect with the jawline. Botox is a minimally invasive procedure that can help you achieve a more youthful radiant appearance.

F.A.Q.

How quickly will I see results and how long will it last?

Botox® can take 10-14 days to develop their full clinical effect, however some patients may start to see results after a few days! Treatment can last for approximately three to four months.

What are the possible side effects of Botox?

The use of Botox® is very safe, however, as with any medical procedure there are possible risks and side effects. Majority of side effects are those found after any type of injection – redness, bruising, and swelling.

What happens if I stop getting treatment?

As the effects wear off your muscle strength will gradually return and the wrinkles will reappear; however, they will not be any worse than they were before!

Why do dentists provide Botox treatment?

The American Academy of Facial Esthetics (where Dr. Hernick received her training) considers dentists as the “real facial specialists” for Botox treatment, because they have extensive training in facial anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.

Is there anything special I need to do before or after treatment?
BEFORE:

With any injection there is a risk of bleeding and bruising. For this reason, we recommend avoiding alcohol for 24 hours before treatment, avoid the use of anti-inflammatory or blood thinning medications before treatment, and schedule treatment AT LEAST two weeks prior to an event.

AFTER:

No straining, lifting, or heavy exercise after treatment. Botox® injections take time to bind to the targeted tissue. For that reason, rubbing the injection areas could potentially get pushed to other undesirable areas of the skin. It is important not to touch, massage, or manipulate your face and/or injection sites.

How much do Botox® injections cost?

$10 per unit. The number of units may vary based on size, shape, and depth of lines and wrinkles.
